 | 25th Jan 2007 | Group C Sports Racing Prototypes at NEC Autosport Show
I just love Group C,when I was a kid these were the kings of the racetracks worldwide,Le Mans,Daytona,Suzuka,Brands Hatch you name the track and they raced there. The FIA in their always fine decisions ruined it but thakfully the cars remain. These cars were at the NEC on the Le Mans and Group C racing stands. Cars to be seen include Porsche 962,Jaguar XJR9,Toms Toyota,Nissan R90CK and Aston Martin. Hopefully I can catch a Group C revival meeting at some point

The Toyota Comfort is designed to be used as a Taxi with loads of room in the back and a massive boot,but that didnt stop 1 being converted to run in D1 with a 400bhp 3S-GTE replacing the original 2 litre LPG engine
TRD also made a supercharged version which is where the idea for this D1 car may have come from

Many D1 drivers use Ogura Racing Clutches (ORC) and most of them were at this event as well as many other ORC sponsored drivers including Super GT and tuning company owners,including Tarzan Yamada (180SX),Akira Iida (180SX),Imai San (Bee*R S15),Bomber Yamamoto (well battered 180SX) Abe San (Black ER34) and the real Mr Kazama (Kazama Auto D1 Street Legal JZX110 Mark II). Some could drive better than others but it wasnt until 10 D1GP drivers came out together that it really got going with the drivers millimeters apart..... Also the pits and some of the other Ebisu tracks can be seen

Super Autobacs and UP Garage in Yokohama and I-Parts in Saitama,with some amazing new and 2nd hand parts. Ken Maeda's D1GP AE86 was outside UP Garage. The Skyline and RX8 are Super Autobacs demo cars,mostly for stereos judging by the mains plugs at the back...
